Reflection
I have wanted to take meteorology for some time now because I have always had a fascination with the natural forces that shape our world. While my main focus has been on natural disasters specifically, and other physical sciences such as volcanic and tectonic science – I knew there was an appreciation of the weather I was missing out on. I’ve always had a loose understanding of what I thought was going on when it came to thunderstorms and the conditions needed to produce specific types of weather – but I was pleasantly surprised of the little details that go into the recipe of a dynamic atmospheric environment. It all has to do with the balance in the atmosphere, or the disturbance of that balance, to produce a beautifully sunny day or one with a hurricane looming.
I can more greatly appreciate the weather specific to the location that I live and am walking away with some more tools on how I can improve it. I can listen to weather reports or look at the data on a website and begin to generate a conclusion on what I think might happen based on the data – which makes observing the weather more exciting for me, anyway. For me personally, this is benefiting my life and my interests much more than my career (which is in healthcare). This world has so much that can be appreciated and I am grateful for the chance to learn more about the world around me. I hope to share the information I have gained with those around me, thank you!
